Sony E3 Minute Recap

An amazing way to round up E3

The show opened with an orchestral performance of a dark theme that I happened to have a hunch about; could it be God of War?!

God of War.

You heard that right. Many would remember from GoW III Kratos' fate appeared sealed - but not for long; our hero is a demi-god after all.

No explanation needed for resurrection.

In a fantastic ten-minute demo, a young boy (who turns out to be Kratos' son) learns the ropes of survival.

The perspective of the game has shifted from a distant-view third-person, to a closer camera which becomes far more immersive and is very appropriate for God of War IV

Did I mention Kratos has a beard?

Brand New Franchises

Days Gone is a new zombie apocalypse franchise that looks crazy; even more than Dying Light crazy. Zombie hoard or town of the undead is an understatement. Although it does bear striking resemblance to The Last of Us.

Games seen at last year's conference including The Last Guardian played its official trailer and Horizon Zero Dawn (slated for a February 2017 release) showed off some more gameplay.

Resident Evil

Resident Evil Biohazard remaster was announced today. Looking more dark (and scarier!) than ever before, some guy in the audience screamed.

But then again who knows if that's the best gauge. I heard whistling after seeing naked mannequin ladies on screen. As you can see, Sony has an interesting crowd all together.

PlayStation VR

PlayStation VR will be officially released this December for $399, launching with 50 exclusive titles.

The lineup includes many acclaimed franchises like Final Fantasy XV for VR, Batman Arkham VR and a new game Farpoint developed specifically for PlayStation VR.

Call of Duty

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare gameplay was shown ... and the response was lackluster. Sorry Infinity Ward.

I'm supposed to be professional, but I couldn't help myself. #RIPCOD.

What did get a better reaction was Modern Warfare original remastered for next-gen; you know, the golden age of Call of Duty dominating the FPS market. I cried remembering how much the campaign changed my 12-year old self. When people actually cared about the campaign.

Crash Bandicoot and Lego Star Wars

Also remastered is the classic PS exclusive Crash Bandicoot series, which is making a return - this time a first for PlayStation 4.

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released in two weeks' time.

Death Standing

A teaser trailer for Hideo Kojima's (yes he's back!) new IP was shown today. No one has any idea what it's about, but if it has "Kojima" on it, it will be good.

It better be at least, since Silent Hill was cancelled and we have no idea where the future of Metal Gear lies.

Spidy

Hearing the upbeat, comical cadence of whom could only be Peter Parker, you could tell a new SpiderMan is in the making for PS4 by Insomniac Games.

Many of us don't like games to be compared to movie franchises, but this is more than just a film (comic) adaptation - and it looks exactly like the movie. The Amazing SpiderMan that is - or SpiderMan 2. Not SpiderMan 3.

Detroit Become Human

Gamepla of Heavy Rain dev Quantic Dream's upcoming game Detroit Become Human was shown off today. Fun fact: it's based on an engine demoed a few years back called Kara, where humanity feels threatened when an android woman begins to display human behavior.

The game follows a protagonist - or knowing Quantic one of them - who calls himself Connor, who is an android.

Androids are not seen in the human world as living and are in turn treated as servants. You know how it goes; some of them turn.

The evil androids, no different from broken humans exhibit psychotic behaviors. You choose whether to join them in their rebellion against mankind or fight against those - man or machine - that do wrong,

E3 2016

That concludes the E3 2016 conferences; there's still upcoming demo coverage of many of the games mentioned, so be sure to check those out!

vRAM - 4 GB vs 2 GB

Get much for an extra $50? Take the NVidia GTX 960, for example. This mid-range card offers 2 GB and 4 GB versions, respectively -- at about a $50 discrepancy between the two cards. That being what the cost of a whole new game, for some, this makes the world of difference.     GTA V A memory-hungry game to the fullest; where the more vRAM, the better. That is, the 970's 3.5 GB is just about the bare minimum, to run this game at max, 60 FPS. The 960's 4 GB are not fully taken advantage of on the lower GM206 Maxwell architecture. Therefore any additional vRAM here would be best for a more constant frame rate, with less dips and stutters between lowest and highest framerate. While this can be easily rectified with vSync enabled - you do get about 3-5 FPS higher on the four GB model of the GTX 960. You can enable far more advanced graphics options in GTA V with 4 or more GB of vRAM - namely ancillary settings like higher population density, depth of view,

Review of the Alienware Graphics Amplifier

Laptop VS Desktop? Have both. What is a "graphics amplifier"? In essence an external GPU you can plug right into your system. Many companies have tried to release these onto the market, but sadly many haven't gotten past announcement phase. Users either resort to painstakingly building custom external graphics cards with components purchased all over the web or simply tossing aside their laptop and building a $10000 gaming PC for their graphics power needs. Both are acceptable, but Alienware and Razor (or any other company to announce one aain) give you another option: a mini-tower outfitted with a build-in PSU and cooling fan for your graphics power needs. Easier and More Flexible Wouldn't it be great to bring your laptop to work, coming back to your home office 2 hours later and gaming away as if it were that $10000 desktop? What a versatile workstation! No stray red, black and yellow cables sticking out of a shoebox or melted GPUs.

PC V.S. Consoles - Which Is Better and What Should You Get?

Heads-up: the word "Console" is dirtier than "Mac" for hardcore PC gamers I'm going to be blunt here - when it comes to PC graphics, there is no contest. Now of course that means you need a good PC, so you'll have to spend a minimum of $800 for an entry-level setup - although, if you look on YouTube, there are some videos where you could (amazingly) upgrade your PC or build a new one for less than $200, that's capable of playing most games. I've been playing consoles like NES and Sega Genesis (or Saturn as some of you know it) since I was two. I played games like Mario Bros, Sonic the Hedgehog, Donkey Kong and Tetris. Then I moved to Super Nintendo, N64 and Sega Dreamcast, so I can play Mario 64 and NBA 2k. I began to see graphic potential in games when the Nintendo GameCube came out. The visuals were stunning - titles like Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion and Mario Kart were all I played for months. Then I got a Nintendo DS for
